DANNA KAPLAN, RSLP, S-LP(C), CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist/Clinic Owner
Danna received her B.A. with a major in Psychology and a minor in Linguistics at the University of Manitoba in 1993 and a Post-Baccalaureate in Communication Disorders from the University of North Dakota in 1994. She has been a speech-language pathologist since 1996, following the completion a Master's degree in Communication Disorders, with additional specialized training in Early Childhood Intervention, from the University of Houston where she graduated at the top of her class.
Being in the large metropolitan area of Houston provided a great opportunity for clinical training including internships in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston and Rehabilitation Institute of San Antonio (RIOSA). Following graduation, Danna practiced in San Antonio, Texas until 2005, and had an opportunity to work in a variety of settings which included hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, home-based, and early childhood centers as well as the early childhood program within the public school system. After having her own children, Danna moved back to Winnipeg with her husband and three lovely, now grown, boys so that they could be closer to their families.
The evolution of Milestones Therapy initially began when Danna returned to work following her move back home. She started with one client, in the client's home, in 2007. One client grew to a few clients and Danna decided that she would like to find office space in order to provide services in a private clinical setting. Danna continued to work with clients in their homes, saw others in their school or daycare settings, and began building up a caseload within her office practice. She built up a practice within Mind Matters Clinic from 2008 until September 2023. As of September 2023, Milestones Therapy now has it's own clinic space and we are thrilled to be working in this new and welcoming environment.
Danna had extensive knowledge and experience in the areas of child language, articulation and phonology, motor speech disorders, orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs), social skills development for children and teens, and early childhood intervention. Danna is trained in Sensory Processing for SLPs.
Danna's therapeutic interests and specialization include Apraxia/motor speech disorders, early childhood intervention, tongue thrusts, orofacial myofunctional disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
