Your First Appointment
What to Expect
Your first visit is an opportunity for us to get to know your child and understand your concerns. We’ll work together to determine the best path forward and answer any questions you may have about the therapy process.
Initial Meeting
We’ll begin by discussing your, or your child’s, background history, medical information, and developmental milestones. This conversation helps us understand your, or your child’s, unique needs and what brought you to seek therapy services.
What to Bring
If available, please bring any reports from your, or your child’s, doctor, previous therapists, or school. These documents help us get a complete picture of your child’s history, but don’t worry if you don’t have anything—we can still conduct a thorough assessment.
Assessment Process
Our therapists will use a combination of standardized and non-standardized assessment measures to evaluate your, or your child’s, skills and determine if therapy is appropriate. The assessment is designed to be engaging and comfortable for you, or your child, while giving us the information we need to make recommendations. Starting at $375. Additional assessment fees may be added based on additional time needed to fully assess. An assessment may take more than one visit due to the complexity of your/your child’s needs and will be discussed with your therapist at the initial appointment. All assessments that do not have a full report are required to have an assessment summary in order for us to properly document our findings and to create our goals. The cost of an assessment summary is $165.
Next Steps...
After the assessment, we’ll develop goals collaboratively with your family’s input. You’ll receive a detailed report outlining our findings and recommendations. If therapy is recommended, we’ll discuss session frequency, duration, and what to expect moving forward.
Session Length
Speech therapy sessions are available in 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute increments. Occupational therapy sessions are available in 60-minute increments. Physiotherapy session times vary depending on your child’s needs and treatment plan.
Frequency
Most clients attend therapy sessions weekly or bi-weekly. The specific frequency will be determined based on your child’s individual goals and progress, and will be discussed during your initial assessment.
Location
Sessions are primarily office-based at our Winnipeg location. Home visits may be available on a case-by-case basis for an additional $20 flat fee, plus possible additional travel charges depending on distance.
Insurance & Payment
A referral is NOT needed for speech therapy services. However, a referral may be required for occupational therapy and physiotherapy depending on your insurance provider’s requirements.
We do not direct bill insurance companies. However, we provide detailed invoices that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company regarding your coverage for speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy services.
Payment for initial visits are due prior to the appointment to help alleviate no shows and to allow us to move people who are waiting for appointments into an open spot. Otherwise, payment is due at the time of your appointment. We accept cash, cheque, credit cards, and e-transfer for your convenience.

Our fees are structured based on the type of therapy and session length. All fees are due at the time of your appointment.
